A good life, a full life...

...I guess that's what any of us hope for.

Babe passed away yesterday evening at the age of 15 1/2. She was born on our farm in Athens, GA and she was named by Mallory and Morgan after the "pig" movie. Until we moved her to the mountains of Tennessee in September of 2010 she had rarely left the farm with only the exception of a few vet visits. I wondered how the stress of our move to the mountains would affect her but in true form she embraced our new life. I worried about her possibly getting lost so we kept an eye out when we would let her out. She soon came up with her version of a small walk-a-bout and would be back at the door within about 10 minutes. And she LOVED the snow! Something about the snow brought out a "puppiness" in her. She would roll in it, romp and run in it or sometimes just rub her face in it.

She will be missed but I know she had a good life, a full life and one in which she was loved!

  5. I'm so, so sorry. There is no pain like that of losing a special dog-friend who is a true family member. What a sweet-sweet face - I am so happy that she had such a wonderful family to be part of. She did, indeed, have a good, full life.

  6. What a beautiful dog Babe was. Aren't they a lesson in love? I could not live without dogs in my life.
It is so hard to let them go but the time comes for all of us and dogs, our most constant friends, share something more.... Their unconditional love and faithfulness is worth everything we go through in the end.
They are angels and they are waiting for us.

  7. Thanks for all the very sweet thoughts. We buried her today in a beautiful final resting place. She was such a gentle soul and we will miss her.

Farmlady - LOL! I must say no one that ever saw Babe ever described her as beautiful.....mostly it was "she's so ugly that she's kinda cute". :)

  9. Wow. She had a long life. I am glad she got to enjoy the snow - and lots of it - before she passed. I am sorry for your loss, Sandy. I remember her just mosey-ing around the house the few times I was over there like she didn't have a care in the world - stress free and friendly.
